Temptation

Temptation is something we deal with every day, and we all have different reactions to the choice: do I or don’t I. I wanted this installation to be public, to implore people to interact with it, and to see if people’s curiosity truly gets the better of them, so I created a white picket where people have to physically confront their curiosity in order to interact with a glowing red button on a pedestal in the center. In pop culture, the idea of temptation is associated with the ‘glowing red button’ trope and is linked with the choice to see what the button does, or to walk away without ever discovering its purpose. I am a truly impulsive person. If I see something that remotely peaks my interest, I will interact with it 100% of the time. So I would climb the picket fence and press the glowing red button.
